swine flu vaccine narcolepsyA study by Swedish medical professionals suggests that swine flue and narcolepsy are related. According to the research there is an increased risk of developing narcolepsy among children administered with swine flue vaccines.

Medical Products Agency showed the study last Tuesday, claiming that children and young adolescents of age below 20 given with Pandemrix could be 400% more likely to develop the sleeping disorder.

A Finnish study supports this claim. Researchers from Finland explained that children are at 9 times more risk to have narcolepsy. This moved experts from around the globe to study the drug Pandemrix.

“Part of this is looking at the actual cases, to collate information and map out all new Swedish cases diagnosed 2009-2010 with aid of medical data and expert assessments,” researchers said through a press statement.

A person with narcolepsy suffers from falling asleep suddenly and without any control.

Since August last year, a significant report of increased number of narcolepsy cases has been recorded in more than 12 countries. This followed after the outbreak of swine flue and H1N1 cases.
