Pharma Giants  Bristol and Roche to Fight “Deadly” Melanoma

According to a report, researchers have already found a new option to fight a “deadly melanoma.” There are actually a lot of ways to fight the disease. One way is by attacking the cancer through strengthening the immune system of the body to make it capable in fighting the disease. Another way is by blocking BRAF, a genetic mutation which was identified to be helping the growth of the disease. The other option, as being announced by Bristol Meyers Squibb and Roche, will be finding the best solution for fighting the disease.

The two “giants” in this field is said to be combining their premiere products for fighting melanoma. For Bristol, Yervoy, it’s the enhancer for the body’s immune system; and for Roche, its Vemurafenib is designed to block BRAF. These two drugs have already independently proven their efficient use in the treatment of skin cancer. However, the two drugs are still to be checked because Yervoy is controlled intravenously, while Vemurafenib is used as a pill.

Experts already have a new data for the two drugs which will help in combining the drugs.

Melanoma is identified as the most serious kind of skin cancer. It has affected millions of people worldwide. The cancer is always curable, but if it is not cured then the cancer cells will progress and spread on other parts of the body.
