Outbreak of Listeria from Cantaloupes Poses Risks to Several States

Health officials from Colorado announced that there was an investigation that came into the outbreak of listeria, which has killed not more than one individual, and has developed including three states wherein it could probably contaminated cantaloupe was consumed.
In a report released by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, out of the nine affirmed cases in Colorado on gastrointestinal infection, there was one supposed case in Nebraska and there were two supposed cases in Texas, and all of those patients were found to have lately eaten cantaloupe.
The department’s chief medical officer, Chris Urbina, declared that the officials have not yet outlined where the contaminated cantaloupes were sold and bought.
Moreover, Urbina noted that it is sensible for individuals who are at high risk for the infection of listeria in preventing cantaloupe consumption, while the investigation on the outbreak of listeria’s source is still continuing.
He added that those individuals who were most likely to be infected by the bacteria included people who are aged 60 years and above, people whose immune systems have been deteriorated with such organ transplants or diseases, and also pregnant women.
The infection is now spreading to several states in the United States, and because of that, the investigation is now coordinated by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention together with the US Department of Agriculture and FDA.
