Illnesses Associated with Poorly Prepared Lunch Meals

Illnesses associated with lunch meals According to the researchers’ new study at the University of Texas, Austin, the lunch meals sent to children at school may cause them sickness.

The researchers have computed the temperatures of food within lunch bags ninety minutes earlier than the children at an air-conditioned school were programmed to eat those.

The lunches that were in protected bags consisted ninety percent, however, the outcome of the research was still repulsive.

According to the researchers, it was lesser than two percent of the consumable items were in safe temperature zone, which counts as more than 140 degrees or less than 39.2 degrees. They only paid attention to vegetables, meats and dairy products in lunch bags of the children. Out of the 168 items they have, there are only fourteen items in lunches having one ice pack were included in a safe temperature. Out of 61, there are only five items considered safe.

The lead author of the study, Fawaz Almansour explained that temperatures that are unsafe permit the bacteria to develop, which rises the chances that children will obtain a horrible illness caused by food.

Moreover, Almansour emphasized that their study did not focus on the number of children affected by such event. The most significant thing is that their meals for lunch may put them at a risk of getting sick. Additionally, Almansour stated that those who aged younger than four years old are mainly vulnerable to such illnesses.
