Fructose is a sugar that can be found in fruits, vegetables, sodas, sugar and syrups like corn syrup. Researchers from the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology said that one in there Americans suffer from high blood pressure, a rate that has tripled in the past century. The reasons are still unclear; the sudden change in the blood pressure of a person can result from changes in diet and lifestyle. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney failure if not treated immediately.

The study that was conducted on 4,500 American adults revealed that a normal person consumes roughly 74grams of fructose a day, that’s like drinking four cans of soda. A Doctor who was part of the research team suggested that people check what they eat and drink not just outside their home but also inside their own homes.

A professor of Nutrition from the University of Vermont said that “researchers and doctors still need to perform more clinical trials to see if by reducing the fructose intake in one’s diet can really help him/her lower his/her blood pressure.” For now, we should avoid again soda and syrup that are high in fructose, salty foods, alcohol and other sweetened products.
