Foxconn Employing One Million Robots for Simple Tasks


One million robots to be used, Foxconn The chairman of Foxconn Technology Group in Taiwan is planning to utilize nearly one million robots for the next three years in restoring workers who perform several simple processes.

Foxconn Technology Group is known for pulling together iPads and iPhones of Apple in its factories in China.

The company is planning to utilize those robots for easy assembly line tasks of their workers. The company has been attacked as a result of a rash of suicide among workers in its factories in China ever since last year.

Additionally, Foxconn is now utilizing nearly 10,000 robots, and is expected to increase to 300,000 for the following year and one million over the next three years.

Analysts explained that such strategy of Foxconn is just a few of an indication of the increasing labor costs in China, forcing them to shift on more automation than manual labor.

Gartner’s Taipei-based senior analyst C.K. Lu explained that the main reason behind this strategy might be because of the increasing costs of salary, noting that the wage increase for this year has run significance to the business. In addition, Lu stated that he is not looking forward to a slow down pace for the following year.

Lu emphasized that if the company did not do this, they will most possibly move about their factories somewhere else.
